Brazosport Health Foundation Presents the
Bluebonnet Social Club

Brazosport Health Foundation, a division of Brazosport Regional Health System, is proud to announce the formation of The Bluebonnet Social Club, a new social event created to raise funds and awareness for high-quality healthcare in Brazoria County. The Bluebonnet committee, comprised of some of the area's most civic-minded leaders, is poised to fully support this effort. The expansion of Brazosport Regional Cancer Center will be the first project to benefit from the group’s fundraising efforts.

The Club’s inaugural event, Co-chaired by George and Mary Nell Franklin, will be a western-themed dinner and dance on Saturday, May 3, 2008. Gathered at the Armadillo Ballroom, where there’s plenty of room for everyone, guests will dance the night away to the music of nine-time Grammy-award winning Asleep at the Wheel and the toe-tapping bluegrass sounds of Cadillac Sky. A feast of fabulous food and amazing live and silent auction items will round out the evening.

“This is the most exciting and innovative civic event to be held in this community in my lifetime,” said George Franklin. “Mary Nell and I are proud to support any effort to help the Brazosport Regional Cancer Center.”

Proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will be used to expand and renovate the Brazosport Regional Cancer Center, the only comprehensive cancer treatment facility in Brazoria County. The expansion, set to break ground in early 2008, will include a new radiation therapy machine, an expanded chemotherapy treatment area, additional consultation and exam rooms, a larger conference room, updated education center, and a larger primary waiting room.

According to the National Cancer Institute, there are over 1,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed each year in Brazoria County. The ability to treat patients close to home with the latest technology is critical to improving the health and lives of our citizens.

Through the Bluebonnet Social Club, the Brazosport Health Foundation hopes to raise needed money to ensure the expansion not only of the Cancer Center, but continue to improve healthcare in this county in years to come. The fundraising event will become a regular feature, with beneficiaries changing to reflect the growth of Brazosport Regional Health System.
