Brazosport Health Foundation
Brazosport Health Foundation was established as a 501 (C) 3 nonprofit organization in 1985 to develop relationships and generate contributed income in support of Brazosport Regional Health System. A gift to the Brazosport Health Foundation is a gift to our community. We invite you to partner with us in giving the gift of health to our patients.

The Mermaid Project
The goal of the Mermaid Project is to transform potential victims of breast cancer into survivors by providing free mammograms, diagnostic treatment and cancer treatment to qualifying women in Brazoria County. Since 2003, approximately 700 women have been helped. In addition to managing the Mermaid Project, the Health Foundation facilitates a support group for survivors of breast cancer and holds neighborhood meetings to educate the community about the importance of breast health and mammograms.

One initiative to raise money for the Mermaid Project is the Foundation’s premier event, “Fashion Fantasy: Passport to Milan.” Brazosport Health Foundation will host the event on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the Brazoswood Ninth Grade Center at 302 W. Brazoswood Drive in Clute, from 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM. Single tickets are $45, and table sponsorships are still available. Contact Brazosport Health Foundation at 979-297-6190 for more information.

Adelaide R. Thorpe Scholarship Fund
The Adelaide R. Thorpe Scholarship Fund will remove financial barriers for nursing students with demonstrated academic ability and a desire to care for those who are injured or ill. This will be a full scholarship, including funds for tuition, books at Brazosport College and some living expenses. Recipients will be expected to work at BRHS for two years following the completion of their nursing education.

Brazosport Regional Cancer Center Expansion
Brazosport Regional Cancer Center is the only comprehensive cancer treatment facility in Brazoria County, offering both medical and radiation oncology. The Cancer Center’s renovation and expansion will provide state-of-the-art treatment, plus the space necessary to offer educational programs and accommodate a steadily increasing volume of patients in a comfortable environment. These improvements will bring a new level of care to those living in Brazoria County, offering them life-saving treatment while allowing them to remain close to home, family, friends and jobs.

The Brazosport Health Foundation exists to support the needs of the Brazosport Regional Health System as it strives to provide the highest quality healthcare. For more information about the Foundation, please visit their website at http://brazosport-health-foundation.org/.
