Brazosport Regional Health System Initiates
Mended Hearts Support Group
Brazosport Regional is establishing a Mended Hearts Support Group to offer help, support, and encouragement to heart disease patients and their families. The initial meeting will be held on Monday, September 15 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM in classrooms B & C at Brazosport Regional. The group will provide educational information and individual group support to recovering patients and their families.
Mended Hearts, a national non-profit organization, has provided hope to patients impacted by heart disease for more than 50 years and helps people understand that there can be a rich, rewarding life after heart disease. With approximately 270 people in the Brazosport Area undergoing cardiovascular surgery each year, the support group can help answer questions and prevent future problems by listening to other people who are faced with similar situations.
Members are given the opportunity to listen, share experiences, learn from healthcare professionals and volunteer to talk to other heart patients about lifestyle changes, depression, recovery, and treatment. Brazosport Regional promotes a positive patient experience and by implementing the Mended Hearts Support Group, the health system hopes to offer inspiration and information to people affected by heart disease.
The Mended Hearts Support Group will meet every 3rd Monday of the month from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM in classrooms B & C at Brazosport Regional on 100 Medical Drive in Lake Jackson. If you have any questions about the Mended Hearts Support Group, please contact Deborah Kaspar at 979-285-1987.
